Former Student Admitted to Downloading Porn
According to a Pennsylvania State Police report dated June 14, 2010, a former student at Saint Vincent College admitted to downloading porn on the computer that was seized outside of Father Mark Gruber’s office. In a notarized deposition, the student “confessed to being the one using the computer system and viewing the child pornography.”
The deposition was shown to Pennsylvania State Police officials at an Eat n Park restaurant on March 9, 2010 by Jack Perry, who was identified as “assistant to Archabbot Douglas Nowicki” in a August 30, 2009 police report. Perry, however, would not let the police officers keep a copy of the deposition.
Pennsylvania State Police officers met with the former student at his apartment on April 1, 2010.
According to a Pennsylvania State Police report [ View ], the former student:
“admitted to being the person using Gruber’s computer for the purpose of looking at child pornography and related that he was the person that committed the offense and not Gruber. He continued to state that Gruber did not ask him to take the blame for the incident, and that he understood he may be charged with crimes. As we interviewed [the former student] we asked questions that only the actor should know about the incident and [the former student] was able to answer all of the questions.”
On June 2, 2010, the investigator, “proceeded to DA Peck’s office to discuss the incident with him. At that time DA Peck related that his opinion still had not changed and that this case was not prosecutable.”
