Dominicans Sever Ties With Saint Vincent’s Archabbey

Dominicans Sever Ties With Saint Vincent’s Archabbey
Most Rev. Fr. Boguslawski,
With regret, I apprise you of information pertinent to your position as President of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. Until very recently, an academic arrangement existed between said Pontifical Faculty and St Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, Pennsylvania; whereby said faculty would award a Pontifical Degree to suitably qualified students upon completion of the requisite studies at the seminary.
The Pontifical Faculty terminated this academic arrangement for the following reasons:
§ concerns about the quality of professors at said seminary;
§ concerns about the calibre of participants in the academic program;
§ the administration of the seminary.
Please be advised that Archabbot Douglas Nowicki is now propagating the following myth around St Vincent Archabbey: the termination of this academic arrangement is attributable to the “Dominicans mislaying the paperwork” necessary for the continuance of the academic arrangement.
Now somebody is not telling the truth here. Enclosed is an affidavit, which shows some of the behaviour condoned at St Vincent Archabbey with respect to Fr. Becket G. Senchur, OSB! Fr. Senchur even purchased a house, while in solemn monastic vows with the complicity of Archabbot Nowicki. Bradley J. Kraus is the District Attorney of Elk County, a constituent County of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In light of actions such as this, credence must be given the Dominican version of events.
Please be advised that during the course of 2011, issues arose surrounding the teaching of polygenism, when a junior monk challenged Fr. Edward Mazich OSB about his views on polygenism. Moreover, Fr. Mazich has questioned certain aspects of the Church’s teaching with respect to the ordination of women. Fr. Mazich obviously developed such views, while he was a doctoral student at the University of Oxford, where many of the leading proponents of the ordination of women within the Church of England received their academic formation. Fr. Mazich, a member of the Council of Seniors, and is/was being considered to be the next Academic Dean of St Vincent Seminary!
The author is well known to several members of the Divinity Faculty at the University of Oxford, where this particular topic [ordination of women] was discussed, most memorably over a barbecue in July last summer as Fr. Randall Flag, at St Vincent Archabbey can attest.
In many respects, it’s providential the Pontifical Faculty has terminated its academic arrangement with St Vincent seminary, as letters have been written to the Dicastery for Catholic Education, outlining some of the aforesaid events mentioned, and to request an Apostolic Visitation of said seminary. It would be deeply regrettable if the fine reputation enjoyed by Dominican House of Studies was besmirched by association with St. Vincent Seminary.
Fr. Boguslawski, appreciating this is a highly unusual e-mail, but it is important that you are informed about the lies being disseminated currently at St Vincent Archabbey. Additionally, because of deep family connections with the Dominicans; I am particularly protective, and will not permit the good name of the family of Saint Dominic to be traduced by an Archabbot in Latrobe.
With sentiments of esteem, I am,
Respectfully yours in Christ,
James Carr
